STEVE PALMER BAND RELEASES A NEW TIMELESS CLASSIC, APPARITION, ON 4/20

SPB Blends the Best Rock Both Proven & Fresh on Debut Album & Tour With Bob Schneider

(Nashville) The golden age of rock music in the 1970s meets the current zeitgeist and today’s D.I.Y. indie music spirit when the Steve Palmer Band releases its first
album, Apparition, on April 20^th on Palmer’s own
Arythmia Records. The newest addition to Nashville’s burgeoning rock
scene, SPB carries the proud tradition of such heartland rock trailblazers
as Creedence Clearwater Revival, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and
others into the new millennium. Music lovers will be able to enjoy a
first taste of SPB’s live magic and potency when they open a series
of theater and club dates for Bob Schneider in late March and early
April.

Singer, songwriter and rhythm guitarist Steve Palmer creates music sure to delight aficionados of intelligent, big-hearted, hook-filled American music. He is backed by
a crew of seasoned players with a collective century of studio and concert
experience: background vocalist Vicki Hampton, bassist Anthony Setola,
lead guitarist Bryan Ewald, drummer Tony Morro and Hammond B-3 organist/pianist
Larry Hall. Apparition was recorded live off the floor with minimal
overdubs at Nashville’s Blackbird Studios, the ground zero recording
facility for the city’s rock community thanks to fellow habitués
like Kings of Leon and Jack White. It was co-produced by SPB and producer,
songwriter and drummer David Huff (a former member of the group Giant)
and mixed by recording veteran Jim Ebert (Butch Walker, Jason Falkner,
Cowboy Mouth, SR 71).

The Denver-born Palmer has nurtured his dream of recording and performing a new yet lasting rock sound since he first started playing guitar and writing songs while
growing up in Connecticut. Following one of his first recording sessions
at age 17 in Plymouth, England, he has honed a sound that transcends
genres and organically takes his influences to next stage. “I draw
from the music I know and love,” he explains. “I grew up with bands
like Kansas and such rockers as Bruce Springsteen and Billy Joel, and
also all the solo artists who were writers: Joni Mitchell, Dan Fogelberg,
Bob Dylan, James Taylor and Cat Stevens.” With SPB, he matches such
inspirations with the punch of modern-day heavyweights like Pearl Jam
and 3 Doors Down as well as the fluid improvisational virtuosity of
the Dave Matthews Band.

Palmer wrote a now 200-song strong catalog and perfected his creative vision recording in top studios in the Chicago area, Indiana, Connecticut (with first-call New York
City session players) and in and around the Washington, D.C. capital
region. “Music was always in the forefront of my brain and what drove
me through life,” he says. “I had to keep recording and writing
because it was something I love.” He wrapped up a professional career
in 2002 to pursue music 24/7, and ultimately found in Nashville the
players to unite behind a common purpose and a place to make the recordings
he envisioned.

Since moving to Music City last summer, Palmer has forged an inspiring creative union with SPB’s members that not only yielded Apparition
but also a country-rock leaning second album, Stuck in a U-Haul.
The group also recently filmed a full concert at Soundcheck Nashville
as well as a live music video at Blackbird for their debut CD’s title
track.

A four-song teaser EP will be serviced to radio and available on the Steve Palmer Band’s tour dates prior to the full album’s April 20 street date. With SPB now
in it together for the long haul, the band has leased headquarters space
in Nashville’s Marathon Village, where they’ve set up a rehearsal
studio that will double as a tracking facility. The release of Apparition
will be followed by intensive cross-country touring throughout 2010.

"Getting this CD out to the public is my lifelong dream,” Palmer says. “I am very happy with it and thrilled to try to get our sound out there and finally play
in front of people."
